JW Smitt was founded on the conviction that time is the most precious resource there is. And based on that principle, we decided to build what our clients have been asking us for years - a state of the art digital customer experience fused with our teams’ proven ability to deliver sustainable results and high-quality service in all aspects of our client’s lives.
Our namesake
The name JW Smitt is a tribute to the legendary Swedish entrepreneur Johan Wilhelm Smitt (1821-1904) that was one of Europe’s most wealthy individuals. He was known for being the financier and Chairman of Alfred Nobels (Nobel Prize) Nikroglycerinbolaget for 40 years. Johan Wilhelm Smitt also co-founded Enskilda Banken (SEB) and Handelsbanken.

JW Smitt was founded as a joint venture between Martin HP Söderströms family office, HMP and Söderberg & Partners’ Wealth Management. Collectively our founders have been advising wealthy families in the Nordics for more than 40 years.
DIG Investment was founded in 2011 by Martin HP Söderström. DIG is a global alternative investment firm backed by a group of European, Asian and U.S. family offices with holdings in hospitality, infrastructure, technology and finance among others.
With a history of Sourcing and funding off market deals globally our clients can access a variety of unique international proposals. Always known for its privacy and global reach.
HMP was founded by Martin HP Söderström as a single family office in 2004. 2008 it became a multi family office.
The HMP Foundation is a sister organisation to DIG invest handling Charity and Events. As an example HMP F has Co-founded Brilliant Minds Foundation, The Nordic Family Office Research Center at SSE and donated more than 85 schools in Africa and Nepal to the Human Practice Foundation among others.
Söderberg & Partners was founded in 2004 by a group of financial analysts lead by CEO Gustaf Rentzhog and Chairman Per-Olof Söderberg, a fourth generation family business owner in Sweden, and Chairman of Family controlled investment group Ratos, listed on the OMX.
Söderberg & Partners has since then grown to be one of the leading Asset Manager groups in the Nordics with 2200 employees in 7 countries. The company is still founder controlled and anchored by KKR and TA Associates.
